In late 2020, the American Mold Builders Association (AMBA, Indianapolis, Indiana) identified a need to address workforce development in a way that would be impactful to its membership. As part of this strategic decision, the AMBA team moved forward with the creation of its 2021 Workforce Development Task Force—which is made up of AMBA mold manufacturers—to work towards its goal of completing one to two workforce development-oriented projects this year.
Through discussion, the following objectives were defined for AMBA’s first project completion:
- Compiling a Resource Guide on Interviewing and Onboarding, which will include gathered insights and resources related to assessment profiles, aptitude tests, interview questions to ask, characteristics of successful candidates, recruitment strategies and more.
- Developing and executing a seminar and/or half-day workshop: “How to Recruit, Screen and Onboard Potential Candidates” (professionally facilitated).
- Establish industry visibility via the utilization of multi-channel media sources for regional and national publicity for AMBA’s mold manufacturers active in workforce development efforts.
AMBA is still looking for help with its Task Force and welcomes the participation of AMBA members with this critical project. To get involved, email Rachael Pfenninger, director of Strategic Execution, at rpfenninger@amba.org.
