The Society of Plastics Engineers (SPE) Mold Technologies Division is proud to announce the launch of its latest workforce development initiative, the “Track the Apprentice” video series. The multi-part video series aims at showing the real-time experiences of a new apprentice beginning a career in the moldmaking industry.

This year’s participant, Taylor, begins her story as a CNC apprentice at CDM Tool & Manufacturing in Hartford, Wisconsin. The first video in the series highlights Taylor’s passion for working in a hands-on field, problem solving highly technical challenges and shares her hopes and goals for the future. Her goal, she says, is that by sharing her experiences, she can influence and inspire others to join apprenticeships like hers.

Taylor’s journey as an apprentice starts with encouragement from her family and teachers. “I knew I could do or be anything I wanted because my parents and the rest of my family supported me. Plus, my teachers kept telling me they thought I’d be really good at this,” Taylor says. “I really liked it, and they could tell I really liked it.”

From there, she got into contact with the team at CDM Tool & Manufacturing to begin a youth apprenticeship program before starting the registered apprenticeship program that will continue for the next four years.

To follow Taylor’s journey as an apprentice, please follow SPE Mold Technologies Division on LinkedIn, where you’ll find updates on the video series and Taylor’s progress.
