The future of making is here, bringing with it drastic changes in the way things are designed, manufactured and used. It’s disrupting every industry, including moldmaking, but with the right knowledge and tools, this disruption is your opportunity. Come to Amerimold to learn how.

Come to Amerimold to hear how automotive mold manufacturers are applying the right knowledge and tools to take advantage of this disruption, by approaching the ideas and practices of design-make-use in a new, dynamic way.

The Tech Talks at Amerimold on the show floor offer attendees cutting-edge technical information as a complimentary value with registration. Sessions will begin at the top of each hour and will feature a panel or presentation on a specific topic put together by MoldMaking Technology.

This year the program kicks off Wednesday, June 13 with a keynote presentation on “The Future of Making Things”. The panel includes representatives from Omega Tool, CS Tool Engineering and Eifel Mold and Engineering, moderated by Tom Rasmussen, Industry Manager, Automotive, Autodesk

Participants  are automotive mold manufacturers who are exploring multiple options, optimizing designs and seamlessly moving from design to production. They are leveraging the latest advances in manufacturing for prototypes and production runs, and they are capturing, analyzing and managing sensor information from your products in real time. Come and learn how a new product innovation platform brings together a set of connected design, manufacturing and IoT tools in a single data-centered platform. Everything is connected in one place.

Staying with that “future” theme, at 11 a.m. we present “Avenues to Additive Manufacturing” with speakers from Proper Group International, Avante, Linear AMS and Forecast3D.

Additive manufacturing is not going away. It is quite the opposite. It is here to stay, and its processes and applications are expanding at record speed. Moldmakers need to pay attention. Not only because everyone is talking about it, but because the technology actually can help you produce better parts more efficiently for the right applications. This talk will share an AM strategy for any mold shop to ease its way into 3D printed injection molds using the right moldmaking materials and a low-cost, high-precision printer; the use of benchmark studies to more fully understand hybrid laser metal sintering/high-speed milling equipment, design/manufacturing requirements, and processes that fit the needs of a specific commodity within the injection mold industry; established design rules, process controls and lessons learned from more than a decade of building direct metal laser melted parts and conformal cooling inserts; the use of Multi Jet Fusion technology when processes such as injection molding would have been the solution, its limitations and how to identify the correct applications.
