The Chicago Chapter of the American Mold Builders Association (AMBA) has invited superintendents, presidents, educators and advisors of Chicagoland grade schools, high schools and community colleges to its “Careers in Advanced Manufacturing” Education Symposium on October 7, 2015 from 5:30-8:00pm at Medinah Banquets. The focus will be on mold manufacturing and the career paths students can take to enter this field. It will present ways schools can better prepare students for this career and review earnings potential. The evening will also include success stories from leaders in education who have already made a “Connection for Success” by partnering with advanced manufacturing companies. Dr. Nick Polyak, superintendent of Leyden High School District 212, will be a guest speaker, and local manufacturing business owners and managers will be on hand to provide more details about the industry and apprenticeship programs. According to Karen Norville, AMBA Chicago Chapter Coordinator, attendance quickly rose for the event, which testifies to the fact that educators are realizing the need to provide quality curriculum for manufacturing careers.
