Makino announces its current roster of online seminars for 2012. The schedule offers insight into a variety of new milling, EDM and control technologies for improving part cycle times, quality and accuracy.

“The North American manufacturing industry is seeing a reasonable recovery, bringing with it new business opportunities,” says Mark Rentschler, Makino’s marketing manager. “With our 2012 online seminar schedule, we’re providing new thinking around a variety of manufacturing processes to achieve the highest level of efficiency possible. It’s our goal to help North American manufacturers capitalize on the opportunities at hand.”

Since its inception, the Makino online seminar series has broadcast over 125 events with thousands of attendees. It offers process focused content and new technologies to help manufacturers learn more so they can earn more.

Each online seminar consists of a 20- to 30-minute presentation and a live Q&A session with the speaker. Registration is required to attend, but all seminars are presented free of charge. A full schedule is available at www.makino.com/events.

Additional online seminar topics are to be added throughout the year and will be posted at makino.com/events upon announcement. For an archive of Makino online seminars, visit makino.com/library.

Initial 2012 Schedule
Jan. 19 – Get Rid of the Rust
This webinar demonstrates how rust affects steel parts left in your wire EDM water dielectric for long periods of time, and how new technology from Makino can eliminate this problem. Register now.

Feb. 23 – New Control Technologies: Inertia Active Control – Optimize B-Axis Index Times
Join us for this brief webinar to learn how Makino’s unique Inertia Active Control (IAC) can help you improve the productivity of new or existing NC programs. IAC reduces non-cut cycle times by optimizing the acceleration and deceleration of Makino’s Direct Drive B-axis tables. Ninety-degree index times can be reduced by as much as 30 percent in some applications. Register now.

March 15 – New Control Technologies: VP Control – Improving Large-Part Accuracy
Volumetric Performance (VP) control provides enhanced volumetric machining precision and performance for large parts while improving the accuracy of 5-axis applications in both linear and rotary axes. Learn how this new control feature can improve your part accuracy. Register now.

April 19 – Reducing Cycle Times in Difficult Sinker EDM Applications
Producing deep, thin ribs, shaped ribs and speaker grilles can often require extensive, long cycle times in sinker EDMs. In this webinar, you can learn how Makino’s suite of standardly equipped SuperSpark technologies can save you thousands of hours of burn time. Register now.

May 17 – Micromachining/High-Precision Capabilities from Makino
Take a video tour of Makino’s micromachining R&D center and high-precision machining area, including variety of milling and EDM machines dedicated to micromachining and ultra-precision machining applications. See how Makino’s metrology area can validate and verify micron-level feature accuracy. Register now.

June 21 – New 5-Axis Large Aerospace Aluminum Structural Machining Centers
Learn about the new purpose-built family of large 5-axis horizontal machining centers for aluminum monolithic aerospace part production. This new family of machines is available with X-axis travels ranging from 4 to 20 meters. Register now.

July 19 – New Control Technologies: Preparation for High Accuracy
What if a machine tool could quickly evaluate its accuracy and make adjustments to improve roundness and contour machining? Today’s control technology can accomplish this and more. Makino’s Geometric Intelligence software (GI.4) includes a new feature, Preparation for High Accuracy Machining. Attend this webinar to learn how this technology can enable you to quickly improve contour and circular cutting accuracy in a variety of cutting conditions. Register now.

Aug. 23 – IMTS 2012 Preview
Makino will be bringing an incredible array of high-performance machine technologies to IMTS 2012 in Chicago. Learn about special programs, part displays, unique demonstrations, technical presentations and new machine technologies that can improve your performance and profitability. Register now.
