Using Design of Experiments (DOE) with Moldflow®

September 29, 2015 | -

Design-of-Experiments (DOE) is a statistical tool that enables you to see the effect of some intervention, for example changing an experimental processing variable, on the quality of the part. DOE analyses search for processing conditions, by automatically launching a series of analyses while varying the values for selected input variables, such as: • Mold/melt temperature • Injection/packing time • Thickness multiplier • Injection/packing profile multiplier Processing conditions are ranked against a wide selection of (single point) quality indicators, including: • Flow front temperature, shear stress, injection pressure, clamp force • Volumetric shrinkage, sink mark depth, part weight, cycle time
