EDMs Spark Interest
MC Machinery is showing off its suite of EDMs and milling machines designed for die/mold applications.
MC Machinery is displaying an array of EDM and milling technology at Booth 338129. This year, many of the machines will be showcasing digital technologies that improve productivity.

MC Machinery is showcasing both wire and sinker EDMs, including the Mitsubishi SV12P and SG12 sinker EDMs. The SVP Series uses the mAIsmart Intelligent Digital Power Master Control (IDPM3), which leverages a sensor system to monitor contact between the electrode and workpiece. The control can automatically adjust power in response to real-time measurements. The company says this system can reduce electrode wear by up to 40% and machining time by up to 30%. Visitors to MC Machinery’s booth can see the SV12P paired with an Erowa robotic automation solution.
Other EDMs on display include the OPS-Ingersoll Gantry Eagle 800 sinker, designed for large parts and mold applications. Additionally, the MV122-R, MV2400-R and MV4800-S Mitsubishi wire EDMs will all be at the booth, as will the MX600 Oil Advance Plus wire EDM — a machine designed to achieve finishes with an average surface roughness of 1.6 microns.
Milling
In addition to EDMs, MC Machinery is showcasing some of its milling machines at the show, including the Roku-Roku HC658II, which is designed for hard milling and graphite machining. The machine has a 32,000-rpm spindle and uses a bridge-style design. These features, combined with the graphite protection in its work area, make it well-suited for producing electrodes.
Additionally, the company is displaying the Android II linear drive milling machine, designed for high-speed machining with a 60,000-rpm spindle and capable of an accuracy of ±1 micron. Meanwhile, the OPS-Ingersoll Eagle V550 is a compact five-axis machining center designed for machining small graphite electrodes.
