Rebranding Around New Technology; Serving the Needs on the Edge of the Software Market
IMTS22: Kubotek, the developer of KeyCreator CAD, debuts its new look and logo at IMTS.

Kubotek (Level 3 – 133145) is probably best known as the developer of KeyCreator CAD, the successor to CADKEY. Then in 2008, the company started investing significant resources in developing new foundational technology for CAD/CAM programs introduced at IMTS 2018 as licensable components for other software developers — named the Kubotek Kosmos 3D Framework — and as the base for its new generation of CAD data interoperability programs (K-Compare and K-Display CAD product lines). It also uses portions of this technology in its KeyCreator CAD products.
The company reports that the CAD interoperability products Kubotek re-built using its new technology have performed very well, yielding an average of 400% faster performance in its most complex automated processes with a sample of customer data sets.
“Our first licensee of the 3D framework, Lambda Research, recently transitioned off of their previous modeling component technology and is now exclusively using Kubotek components for CAD translation and model inquiry operations in their specialized optical engineering program, TracePro,” Kubotek General Manager John McCullough says. In addition, Kubotek has been fielding interest in the technology from several large software companies and is confident that this new technology is the future of its business.
“Kubotek Kosmos is next-generation technology serving the needs of specialized corners of the market that will always be there because of the nature of multiple major CAD/PLM databases. We are the glue to hold together all the data as it moves around,” McCullough says.
To better align Kubotek's identity with this new technology, the company has shifted its branding of the whole business from Kubotek3D to Kubotek Kosmos — Specialize Without Compromise. The new look and logo is debuting at the booth and on Kubotek Kosmos mouse pad giveaways. Kubotek is also offering free software trials of all products.
