Video: Mold Component Technology Solutions Boost Sustainability

DME Product Manager Mike McCutcheon discusses how moldmakers can embrace sustainability with innovative solutions that improve productivity, reduce waste and support eco-friendly manufacturing, including:

• A stress-relieving machine that is a proven substitute for 80% to 90% of heat-treatment stress relief in metalworking applications. It improves the inconsistencies of the previous resonant vibration technology by using more efficient, more consistent "sub-harmonic" vibrational energy, which is the optimum vibration stress relief frequency. This eliminates need to send out products to heat treatment saving on transportation time and costs.
• Traceability inserts that in the near future will be able to track each individual shot. Currently, they send out information on dates.
• Mold undercuts and threading solutions that improve mold performance, including a durable collapsible core with spring-core applications, a dovetail core for round, rectangle or oval applications and a two-stage design that increases the undercuts up to 40%. 

• Cooling solutions like Flosense units that measure flow, temperature and pressure on a single flow channel using a single combined sensor and Cooling Care units for comprehensive cooling channel maintenance via a patented technology combining chemical and mechanical action to free and dissolve the unwanted material.
