Mazak Hosts Team Penske Drivers at Employee Appreciation Event

In recognition of the continued hard work and dedication of all its employees, Mazak Corporation hosted an employee appreciation event with special guests Team Penske drivers Brad Keselowski #2 Ford Mustang (MENCS)/Ford Mustang (NXS) and Austin Cindric #22 Mazak Ford Mustang (NXS). The drivers met employees in the National Technology Center on the company’s North American Manufacturing Headquarters campus in Florence, Kentucky, and emphasized the importance of team Mazak’s contributions to Team Penske winning races.

UNITED GRINDING North America Launches STUDER Stud-E Bucks Program

Committed to helping manufacturers across the continent make the most of their budgets when upgrading cylindrical grinding equipment, United Grinding North America has announced a special program that expands access to the company’s comprehensive range of solutions. For every qualified purchase of one of the company’s in-stock Studer machines, manufacturers will receive five percent back in Stud-E Bucks for use on any United Grinding North America product or service.

TRUMPF Inc. Names Smart Factory Director

Markus Zimmermann has been named director of the TRUMPF smart factory in Hoffman Estates, Illinois. In this position, Zimmermann will report directly to Burke Doar, senior vice president of TRUMPF Inc. In his new position, Zimmermann will be responsible for the operation and continuous development of the smart factory by utilizing the latest TRUMPF technology to demonstrate industrially viable autonomous factory solutions to customers. He will also lead TruConnect, automation and software sales and marketing activities for North America.

Sodick Announces 2-Year Standard Warranty

EDM manufacturer Sodick revealed that it will now include a two year warranty standard for all premium model wire and sinker EDMs, including: ALN, ALC, AP and AQ series wire EDMs and AG series sinker EDMs. This warranty program protects customers, covering all labor and parts (with the exception of wear parts such as guides and carbides). Beginning September 1, 2019, every machine of these models sold will automatically be covered.

Reshoring Initiative's President Named as Investment Advisory Council Member

The U.S. Department of Commerce has named Harry Moser, founder and president of the Reshoring Initiative, as a member of its new Investment Advisory Council. The Council will advise the Secretary of Commerce on how government policies and programs affect the United States’ ability to attract and facilitate business investment.

Chevin Tools, Inc. Launches Online Store

Illinois-based Chevin Tools, Inc. has launched an online store, enabling end users to find and purchase static toolholders for Mazak CNC lathes. In an industry where machine shops often have to deal with long wait times for products, confusing website interfaces, and sub-standard toolholder quality, Chevin Tools has sought to make purchasing toolholders as easy and reliable as possible.

Sodick Launches New Direct Sales in Ohio

Machine tool manufacturer Sodick, Inc. has launched a new direct sales structure in Ohio, greatly reducing the cost to end users and enabling greater communication with customers. The company has named Joe Caine and Brad Angeny as sales managers for this territory, with Caine supporting customers located east of Interstate 77 and Angeny supporting those customers on the western half of the state. Both Angeny and Caine are experienced district managers with the company and well-versed across its product range.
