Moldmaking specialist Haidlmair GmbH (Nußbach, Austria) reported that it has secured the largest order in the company’s history. By the end of 2021, Haidlmair, with help from its technology partner, Schoeller Allibert (Goodyear, Arizona), will produce 20 injection molds for IFCO Systems (Tampa, Florida), which manufactures collapsible crates. IFCO is said to be the world’s largest supplier of reusable plastic packaging and offers pooling solutions, mainly in the area of fresh produce.
As the first step, Haidlmair says it will deliver 12 molds for the production of hinged crates by summer 2021. Schoeller Allibert will produces part of the containers for IFCO as well, and, as product developer, is responsible for quality assurance, including load tests on the boxes. Schoeller Allibert has subcontracted the other container parts to its partner, Polytec (Ebensee, Austria), which has been its production partner for many years.
By the end of 2021, Haidlmair will manufacture an additional eight molds, with end products that are mainly intended for the North American market and will be used there by various supermarket chains.
“We are happy that, especially in such challenging times, we can rely on our long-standing partners,” says Ludo Gielen, CEO of the Schoeller Allibert Group. “We have been working with IFCO and Haidlmair for many years and have always been able to rely on the outstanding quality of the molds from Nussbach and the comprehensive, individual support.”
Like Gielen, Anastasios Papadopoulos, vice president of IFCO, also notes the company’s positive history of working with Haidlmair. “[We] are always impressed by the durability, high availability, optimized cycle times and outstanding product quality. That’s why we chose Haidlmair and Schoeller Allibert as our production partners again for these two projects.”
Overall, this means that the Austrian-based moldmaker has a lot of work ahead of it. “We are happy to start our business year on such a positive note and we are looking forward to the challenges ahead. To this end, we will be hiring some new staff in different areas of the company over the next few months in order to complete all the orders to the expected timeline and to the usual high Haidlmair quality,” says Mario Haidlmair.
