Indexable Gun Drills Feature Guide Pads for Eco-Friendly Machining
Tungaloy’s FH3135 grade guide pads retain high thermal crack resistance when used with water soluble oils, offering an eco-friendly alternative to machining.
Tungaloy’s DeepTri-Drill line of indexable insert gun drills for drilling deep holes, in addition to ensuring productivity and application security, as well as easy tool management by eliminating the need for regrinding, now feature FH3135 grade guide pads. Developed specifically with a carbide substrate, the coated pads enhance resistance to fracture and thermal cracking when machining with water soluble oils, reducing the risk of guide pad breakages associated with soluble oils’ lower lubricity while remaining environmentally friendly.
Additionally, a double-chamfer geometry on the corners of both ends assist in a smooth entry into the guide bushing or pilot hole, inherent when machining on dedicated gun drilling machines. This reduces vibrant impact on the guide pads and the risk of rupture.
