Rapid Variant Analysis: A Better Way of Working with Simulation

April 26, 2023 |

In plastic injection molding, it's a good idea to test different design ideas on the computer before making the parts and molds. This trial-and-error way of doing simulation is quickly becoming obsolete. There is a better way.

In recent years, more and more companies have discovered how to use parallel computing to explore more solutions at once. This unlocks real-time cause-and-effect analysis, instantly telling you how changes to your design (for example, wall thicknesses or injection parameters) will affect the quality (warpage, filling issues and so on).

This new gold-standard way of working is called rapid variant analysis. It has become possible due to advances in computing power and usability enhancements that make it possible to harness this power to tackle warpage, filling issues, cycle time and so on. In this talk, Simcon will show how several leading companies have upgraded to this new way of working in recent years.

Agenda:

  • Why the old way of trial-and-error simulation in injection molding is becoming obsolete
  • A better way of working: rapid variant analysis
  • How more and more companies upgrade to a new way of working
