Last week at the AMBA convention I had the pleasure of speaking with Kevin Finley, who will start his second year at the Krannert School of Management at Purdue University this fall and is also the son of Commercial Tool & Die, Inc. president—and newly elected AMBA president—Todd Finley, about some workforce development issue. Kevin is very passionate about putting a plan in place to place college engineering students in summer jobs/internships/co-ops while they attend school in hopes of garnering interest and future employees in the moldmaking and manufacturing trades. He told me that he spoke with many attendees who felt the same. Mold manufacturers are looking for qualified interns—especially from Purdue—and asked for Kevin’s help in connecting them with potential employees.
