Yarde Metals showcased the 'lighter side' of mold products aluminum mold plate. Aluminum molds offer faster machining, improved cycle times and mold machine life, in addition to being lighter to then steel. Featured products included QC-10 2" through 20"; M-1 and M-5 through 30" thick; K100-S, MIC-6, ALCA-5, 2024 through 6" thick; 6061 through 16" thick; 7075 through 12.
AMPCO Metal, Inc. showcased its two high copper based alloys—AMPCOLOY® 940 and 944—recognizing that the plastic injection mold industry is a key market segment for the continued growth of the company. Each alloy is beryllium free.
SIGMASOFT demonstrated its Virtual Process and Mold Development software, which uses a “Finite-Volume-Method” to quickly and easily integrate all available geometry and process-related information at every stage during the product development cycle. The meshing of the simulation model is completely automatic and doesn’t involve additional rework.
With its family of products, Autodesk demonstrated the value of doing more simulation in-house—to validate and optimize your designs before releasing them to the shop floor—as well as design analysis throughout the design process—to change and improve designs to meet customer needs—via the technology in the Autodesk® solutions for digital prototyping.
StackTeck (Brampton, ON) manufactured the four-cavity mold for the Ritemp™ demo in the Sumitomo-Demag booth—provided by Mold-Masters who has formalized an agreement with Ritemp Technologies. This cell showed a Ritemp hot-half and a cold half. Through this patented evaporative cooling technology in hot runner applications heat is extracted from the mold by converting it to latent heat of vaporization. The resultant vapor rises to the top of the mold where it is condensed by simple heat exchangers.
Tech Mold (Tempe, AZ) supplied the mold for Mold-Masters’ launch demo in the CBW booth for the Melt-Cube, Mold-Masters’ new side gate product. Melt-Cube is a new linear side gating system that allows for 20 percent higher pitch density than circular systems and is designed for easy tip replacement in the press.
