Polyshot Corporation (West Henrietta, NY) released its next generation, two-shot hot runner system. The image shows a two shot system, first shot valve gate, second shot pinpoint gated with its top clamp removed. This allows you to see the top of the actual first and second shot manifolds inserted in their independent pockets. The latest technologies employ plate fusion technology, allowing the placement of internal flow paths in the manifolds without the use of "turn plugs". These systems now also use Cosmoworks finite element thermal analysis, which allows an extremely precise temperature profile across the face of each manifold to be predicted during the design stage. This particular two-shot system produces automotive sound deadening components. It uses nylon for the first shot, overmolded with a "sealer" material that expands and fills cavities inside the automobile during the paint bake.
