Renishaw has introduced a “pay-as-you-go” machine tool probe system that features lower upfront costs, a free training package and immediate parts replacement. The Primo twin-probe system is comprised of the Primo Radio Part Setter, Primo Radio 3D Tool Setter and Primo Interface. The part setter locates a workpiece prior to machining, while the tool setter measures the length and diameter of cutting tools.

An additional key element of the system is Primo Credit Token, which enables the “pay-as-you-go” model. Users buy a six-month credit token, which provides unlimited use of the probe system during that period. Once the credit expires, users can purchase an additional credit token to extend system usage by another six months. New credit can be inserted at any time and will be added to the remaining credit. An upgrade credit token is also available to provide unrestricted continuous use.

Registration of a valid credit token also activates Primo Total Protect, a protection plan under which Renishaw will replace a damaged probe free of charge. The Primo system also includes GoProbe software and a comprehensive self-study package with a range of training tools and modules.

Renishaw will highlight the Primo system at EMO 2015.
