Shop Floor Automations’ Predator Touch human-machine interface is designed to make sending and receiving programs much easier for machinists. The HMI provides a user-friendly interface on the “front end,” while Predator DNC handles multiple communication protocols on the “back end,” the company says.

In addition to USB capabilities, Ethernet protocols include FANUC FOCAS, Windows Share and FTP. FOCAS allows file transfers to and from CNC memory without the need to touch the control. It also can be leveraged for machine monitoring in the future without the added cost of hardware. With Windows Share, the DNC facilitates encrypted file transfers directly into the CNC’s memory, allowing any Windows-based machine tool to be securely added to a network; common controls include Mazak and Okuma, plus certain Haas and DMG MORI versions. FTP is commonly included on machine tools for facilitating file transfer; common controls include FANUC and Fagor.
