Mechanical Retention Force Gauges


Diebold’s mechanical retention force gauges are designed for testing the actual tool retention force of clamping systems in machine-tool spindles.

Currently, the most common retention force gauges operate electronically, using piezoelectric elements.  This introduces a possibility of failure the company believed was unacceptable.

Diebold Mechanical RetentionForce Gauges (DMRG) are strain gauges, and transfer force reading linearly. The amount of retention force the clamping system will actually exert on the toolholder is displayed in kN on an indicator-type dial for ease of use.

Extensive tests have shown that the Diebold Mechanical RetentionForce Gauge measures accurately and reliably, and that they are not affected by temperature variations,the company states. They are repeatable within +/- 3 percent.
