Machine Center Has Two Spindles and ATCs for Increased Productivity
Doosan says that its DMP 500/2SP effectively doubles productivity by machining two parts simultaneously and by reducing work loading, unloading and idle times.
Doosan Machine Tools announces the addition of the DMP 500/2SP to its line of vertical machining centers. Equipped with two spindles and two automatic-tool-change (ATC) systems, this new model was designed for production job shops and high-volume parts manufacturers. Doosan says that the DMP 500/2SP effectively doubles productivity by machining two parts simultaneously and by reducing work loading, unloading and idle times in comparison to single-spindle machining centers. For reduced setup times, the right spindle features a W-axis adjustment of 20 mm (0.8"), which enables quick compensation for any variability in fixture heights between spindles.
The DMP 500/2SP has direct drive spindles of 12,000 rpm with 87 lb-ft of torque that are standard. Spindles of 8,000 rpm with 211 lb-ft of torque are optional. Doosan says that the load capacity (1,763 lbs.) and table size (47 x 20.5") easily accommodate a variety of workpieces and fixtures, and together with the 20.5"-Y-axis stroke, offer a machining space well suited for a range of parts. Dual 24-tool capacity magazines are standard, and 30-tool and 40-tool magazines are optional. The dual ATCs have tool-to-tool times of 1.7 seconds, which keep the tools in the cut longer.
