Kurt Manufacturing has expanded its five-axis workholding to include 15 different options for cost-effective platforms, high clamping force, high productivity and reduced downtime. The 15 different devices are capable of holding part sizes from as small as 0.15" to as large as the size of the CNC machine table. Also included in the workholding lineup are low- and high-profile designs, risers to lift parts higher off the table for additional clearance and options to bolt directly to the machine table.

The Kurt MaxLock self-centering multi-axis vises are designed for precision machining small to medium parts and are available in reversible 2.5" and 4" jaw widths. They feature an adjustable centerline so multiple vises can easily be aligned without moving the vise itself or creating complicated programming moves. Clamping can be achieved for both OD and ID and for parts as long as 6.5". Tall jaws are included for increased spindle clearance and are available in machinable aluminum and machinable steel options.

The Kurt MaxLock muti-axis Anglock vise includes Kurt’s Anglock feature designed to reduce part lift to a minimum by pulling parts down and holding them with maximum rigidity. The vise’s modular design mounts on 2" grid patterns and locator pins for quick setup. It also offers a riser option for gaining more height off the table.

The Schenke five-axis vise is available in low and high profiles to accommodate various part sizes and spindle clearances. It provides a clamping force of as much as 8,992 lbs (40 kN) with its tension spindle directly under the workpiece so the jaws do not flare out under tension and the machine table does not distort. Maximum clamping height is 8.858" (225 mm). These vises can handle virtually all shapes, including round, irregular  and machined workpieces.

Kurt’s Leader Chuck MMY self-centering chucks for five-axis applications are available in two- and three-jaw models, each in four different sizes. They are capable of external and internal clamping, and perform both first and second operations in the same machining cycle, providing continuous output of finished components. Repeatability for all of the chucks is 0.0002".
