Among the technology Fast Heat Inc. displayed in its booth at NPE2015 were its CableXChecker and MoldXChecker products for diagnosing heater, thermocouple and connectivity problems within hot runner systems and molds.

Used in conjunction with a facility’s preventative maintenance plan (PMP), the CableXChecker is designed to identify bad cables without using a labor-intensive multimeter. It is customized to the customer’s specific wiring diagram standards and allows molders to remotely diagnose problems before production. According to the company, the device also has helped mold repair and toolroom technicians troubleshoot perceived problems within the mold, before it is removed from the machine for costly inspection, service and downtime.

The MoldXChecker identifies thermocouple short circuits, heater short circuits and other heater quality problems before the mold enters the production cell. According to Fast Heat, the device also has been helpful in determining leaking tips and other mold anomalies that would have led the customer to take production offline for troubleshooting and expensive repairs.
