Cold Jet will showcase its i³ MicroClean system, which uses dry ice instead of abrasive means like harsh chemicals, wire brushes or abrasive pads to clean molds, extending mold life. According to the company, the system allows for increased cycles between preventative maintenance and reduced scrap rates. Designed around the company’s patented shaved ice and feeder technologies, it enables molders to clean intricate cavities and molds that other methods cannot reach. Cleaning can be done while molds are still at curing temperature in the press, reducing cleaning time. In addition, the system can be used for final product cleanup, including deflashing of surface/parting line vents and gloss leveling.
