The functional surfaces of Hasco’s Z170, Z171 and Z174 latch locking units feature a diamond-like carbon (DLC) coating designed to minimize friction and wear. The devices are used primarily on injection molds with multiple plate movements, and they can be subject to particularly high loads, depending on component dimensions and the size of the mold.

According to the company, optimized tribological properties can improve mold service life and help minimize wear, helping to boost productivity and reduce the costs of mold construction. The DLC coating does not cause dimensional changes in the functional surfaces, so the latch locking units can be fitted 1:1 to existing systems. The devices also offer good slip properties due to the low coefficients of friction, as well as corrosion protection.

Among the other DLC-coated parts available from Hasco are its Z4651 flat ejector blades, Z457 standard sleeves and Z031 shouldered locating guide pillars.
