DLC-Coated Flat Guiding Stock Offers Optimal Sliding Properties
The E 3174 flat guiding stock from Meusburger offers optimal sliding properties and minimal wear because of the diamond-like carbon (DLC) coated surface. With the radii already provided at the corners, the flat guiding stock can be fitted into milled pockets. Because of its identical fitting dimensions, the E 3174 can be used to replace the existing self-lubricating flat guiding stock E 3176 where necessary. To avoid sharp edges, a 15-degree chamfer is provided around the entire plate, ensuring a longer service life of the flat guiding stock, clean operation of the mold and easy installation without rework. The plates are available immediately from stock, with dimensions from 25 by 63 mm up to 63 by 200 mm.
When insulation is necessary to build a mold, the moldmaker must consider the insulation's properties and what effects these properties will have on mold performance.
With a firm understanding of the effects of injection on the core, slide and associated components, this second of two articles will discuss emerging modular technologies which provide alternatives to the limited solutions previously available.
The right mold components can help improve mold cooling and thereby produce higher-quality parts.
