Sandvik Coromant (Fair Lawn, NJ) has expanded its CoroCut® program. Larger insert seats sizes for wider grooves and a dedicated new grade enable higher performance in the most demanding parting and grooving operations. Products included in the expansion will be available in October 2009.

The new M- and R- size inserts and holders increase the ranges of the CoroCut parting and grooving program to cover from 0.590" for heavy-duty grooving, down to 0.020" parting widths. The R-size is the largest of all CoroCut inserts and is optimized to provide reliable performance in tough, demanding grooving operations. Applicable to grades of steel, stainless steel and cast iron, the R-size insert achieves feed rates of up to 0.020"/rev.

The CoroCut M-size insert provides high metal removal rates with good chip control in heavy grooving and rough-forming applications. The M-size is capable of producing grooves from 0.354"-0.433" wide and allows perfect chip forming at feed rates of up to 0.016"/rev.

The CoroCut system uses a patented rail and V-shape insert design to boost precision in parting and grooving. With a highly secure clamping system, the CoroCut is ideal for demanding applications and ensures high rigidity and stability. The tool achieves a level of productivity higher than any other system currently available.

To complement the new insert sizes, Sandvik Coromant has also introduced the GC1145 grade. With improved wear resistance and toughness properties, the new grade maintains an uncompromised cutting edge for long times in cut. As a result, tool life or cutting speed can be gained in difficult parting-off operations in stainless steels and for demanding parting and grooving in stainless steel, steel and heat-resistant super alloys.
