Poco Graphite (Decatur, TX) and its parent company Entegris have developed a superior family of coatings for plastic injection molding. UltraC DiamondTM coatings for the mold industry offer high hardness, low friction and corrosion protection. These ultra thin carbon coatings are deposited by our proprietary PECVD (Plasma Enhanced Chemical Vapor Deposition) process at low temperatures (<150°C) on a variety of substrate materials. The high hardness, low friction and smoothness of the coatings improve the wear and abrasion resistance properties of moving components in molds. UltraC Diamond coatings can be applied readily on existing tool designs without the need for design changes and modifications. The company’s unique deposition process allows them to deposit coatings uniformly on large areas and on three dimensional complex geometries. Entegris' UltraC Diamond coatings can boost mold productivity, improve tool life and reduce cost of ownership.
