NIBORE® (Nickel-Boron Nitride) from Bales Mold Service (Downers Grove, IL) provides an affordable insurance policy for the performance of molds manufactured from not only standard tool steels but also aluminum. More and more, customers building aluminum tooling have come to rely on NIBORE® because, at 54 Rockwell, it offers great abrasion protection, even when running glass-filled materials. NIBORE® also provides excellent corrosion protection against materials like PVC and smoother release of molded parts. Because it is strippable, NIBORE® is easy to work with if changes are required.

In addition to NIBORE®, Bales’ Electroless Nickel, at 50 Rockwell, offers general abrasion protection and is the best defense against PVC gasses; and Nicklon® (Nickel-P.T.F.E.), at 45 Rockwell, is good for moderate abrasion protection but offers improved lubricity as well as good corrosion protection in aluminum tooling.
