Makino highlighted its D300 five-axis vertical machining center and U3 wire EDM at NPE2015. Designed to deliver sustained dynamic accuracy in full five-face machining applications, the D300 is equipped with core-cooled ballscrews and temperature-controlled direct-drive motors and spindle. The direct-drive rotary axes provide speed and positioning repeatability for producing a variety of complex 3D workpieces.

Designed for ease of operation, versatility and low operating cost, the U3 wire EDM includes Makino’s HyperCut technology and Hyper-i control. A user-friendly interface similar to those found on tablets and smartphones makes operation intuitive, the company says.
