TST Tooling Software Technology (Clarkston, Michigan) and Vero Software have donated $750,000 worth of Edgecam software to Lawrence Technological University (LTU) in Southfield, Michigan. This in-kind grant is expected to help mechanical engineering students produce, machine and fabricate parts for class projects. In addition, the school’s Blue Devil Motorsports teams will be able to use the software to create some of the parts needed to assemble their vehicles for international competitions.

The CAM software package interfaces with almost all CAD products and enables students to design in Catia, Solidworks, NX and AutoCAD. Edgecam imports the designs without requiring additional translation. The part is then modeled, the manufacturing process is simulated, and the code for the machine is generated for production in LTU’s machine and fabrication shop. CNC and waterjet machines are pre-programmed into the software, enabling seamless interface among virtually any of the CAD systems used on campus.
