Open House to Showcase Enhanced Equipment and Service Offering

Rio Grande, a Paragon Company, will mark the completion of its first round of capital upgrades in the Rio Grande Valley with an open house this week.

Rio Grande was acquired in August of 2014 by Michigan-based Paragon D&E to extend the parent company’s reach into the fast growing manufacturing base in southeast Texas and northern Mexico.

“This open house is an opportunity to show the community what our team accomplished. Our people here in Brownsville defined and managed all the improvements we’ve seen in the past few months,” noted David Muir, company President. “Their knowledge and skills have allowed us to make highly effective investments in training and equipment to better serve our customers.”
Rio Grande now offers a full suite of services to support engineering changes, contract machining, and assembly in addition to the tooling and mold repairs offered prior to the acquisition. A precision Tarus multi-axis CNC mill driven by PowerMILL software allows the facility to work on larger and more complex tooling, and an HTS laser welding system provides faster and more precise repairs.
“We’re a customer driven operation,” added Jon Hamming, Rio Grande’s general manager. “The advanced manufacturing systems we’ve put in place allow us to meet the market’s need for fast, highly precise workmanship. Our experienced people have proven that we can meet these needs for each job as we manage a significant increase in workload!”
Attendees at the open house will see demonstrations of the organization’s new capabilities. Local team members and those from Michigan will be on hand to talk about how it can use resources from both facilities to find cost effective solutions to specific customer needs.
In addition to representatives from the automotive, aerospace, and oil and gas industries, leadership from the BEDC and regional colleges are also expected at the open house this Thursday, January 15th between 9 AM and 3 PM at 5295 Commercial Drive in Brownsville. Local news organizations are encouraged to attend.
