Discover 2019, an education and technology event that draws thousands and has become a manufacturing industry mainstay, will take place at Mazak Corporation’s North American Manufacturing Headquarters in Florence, Kentucky, November 5-7 and 12-13.

Discover 2019 attendees will experience new technologies that will increase their efficiency and productivity and keep them competitive in today’s automated and digital manufacturing world. Such innovations include hybrid multi-tasking machines with additive manufacturing, friction stir welding, hot wire deposition and auto gear package; digital manufacturing solutions including mixed reality remote service support and a new machine spindle health monitoring system; and several new functions and features, including artificial intelligence within the company’s Smooth Technology manufacturing platform.

In response to customer demand for new and advanced production equipment, the 30 machining systems at Discover 2019 will be either completely new to the industry or making their North American debuts – several of which are Kentucky-produced models. The event will also feature several learning seminars with Mazak collaborative partners, access to Mazak application experts, a student day for recruitment and regularly scheduled tours of the Mazak iSmart Factory.

During the Discover 2019 factory tours, attendees will experience the company’s latest investments in its own manufacturing facilities, including a completely automated manufacturing cell and the grand opening of an expanded and newly updated spindle rebuild department. Located on Mazak’s Kentucky manufacturing campus, the spindle rebuild department provides efficient and high-quality OEM-factory-certified spindle rebuild services. The new state-of-the-art department will further improve the company’s ability to quickly deliver spindles and reduce customer downtime.

In line with the Mazak iSmart Factory concept, the new manufacturing cell will show Discover 2019 attendees the company’s Smooth Technology digital manufacturing solutions – including its smooth spindle health monitoring – that contribute to increased productivity and maximized machine utilization. The new manufacturing cell features the company’s Mazatec smart manufacturing system for both machine pallet and raw material stocking and six of the company’s most advanced machine tools and also incorporates the Mazak SmartBox IIoT technology for process monitoring and optimization.

As part of Mazak’s 100 Year Anniversary celebration, the company will encourage customers to share their stories and take selfies of themselves in front of its machine(s) wearing “Smooth like Mazak” sunglasses. Then, up until Discover 2019, post them on social media with the #MyMazakStory. During Discover 2019, Mazak will show the favorites on a special display.
