Matrix Tooling Expands Molding Range and Capacity with Two New Presses

Matrix Tooling, Inc. & Matrix Plastic Products has taken another step in broadening its precision injection molding capabilities.  The recent addition of a 5-ton electric press to their class 100,000 cleanroom expands their micro-molding capabilities, while a new 110-ton electric press supplements capacity in their most highly utilized molding range.      “Over the past few years, we have experienced the greatest percentage of our growth with medical device OEM’s who currently account for roughly 65% of our customer base,” said Paul Ziegenhorn, President.  “In order to accommodate the growing demand, we’ve added additional capacity and expanded our offering in the micro molding arena.  This 5-ton, fully-electric Toshiba EC5 has a 14mm screw and .21oz shot capacity.  This small size is particularly well-suited to running resorbable and bioabsorbable resins which are both expensive and heat sensitive and consequently require closer monitoring of the residence time than most of the other resins we process here.”  “At the same time, we have been running near capacity on our two 100-ton presses where our largest volume medical and government production jobs are concentrated,” said Andy Ziegenhorn, Molding Accounts Manager.  “We purchased the new 110-ton, fully-electric Toshiba EC110SX to provide back up coverage and overflow capacity in this size range.”Matrix specializes in molding intricate and tolerance-critical components for the medical, electronics, military and consumer products industries.  Their services include design consultation, mold design/build, close-tolerance molding, cleanroom services, and advanced inspection reporting.  Matrix is certified to both ISO 9001:2008 and ISO 13485:2003.    For more information, please visit www.matrixtooling.com or contact Paul Ziegenhorn, President, at 630-595-6144 or info@matrixtooling.com
