GF Machining Solutions has a strategy to digitalize its offerings. As a part of that strategy, GF Machining Solutions has agreed to purchase 100 percent of the shares of Symmedia GmbH (Bielefeld, Germany), which has been specializing in software for machine connectivity solutions for the past 20 years. Industry 4.0 is the secure interconnection of machines. Symmedia develops and offers these interconnections.

Symmedia was established in 1997 and today employs 60 people. Under the acquisition, Symmedia will continue to operate under current management from its Bielefeld base. More than 15,000 machines in various industries worldwide have been equipped with Symmedia software. Symmedia will continue to support and develop connectivity solutions for all types and all brands of machines and factory equipment. In addition, GF Machining Solutions will use Symmedia technology to accelerate its digital transformation by offering complete solutions for factory connectivity in industrial environments.

The customers of Symmedia provide machine manufacturing services in a variety of industries, including textiles, pharmaceuticals, food, electronics, plastics, printing and tooling. Symmedia believes that the acquisition will enable the software company to deepen its relationships with current customers.
