After more than two years of design work, Evco Plastics has begun expansion at its MED facility in DeForest, Wisconsin. The 50,000-square-foot addition will more than double the size of the facility, making it 84,000 square feet. Part of the expansion includes Evco’s ISO Class 8 clean room, which will triple to 30,000 square feet.

The MED facility has offices, warehouse storage and molding space for components, medical devices, medical packaging and medical housings. Currently, the DeForest facility has 16 presses, and the expansion will allow for 15 to 20 more, depending on press size. Evco says the addition will increase its capacity and put a refined focus on improving its processes for molding medical parts.

To honor the occasion, Evco shoveled the first few loads of dirt with key members of CG Schmidt, Evco’s construction management company. Dale Evans, president of Evco, was presented with two golden shovels embossed with the Evco logo.

Evco Plastics says the expansion will improve operations and enhance the work environment for employees. The company expects the addition to be fully operational by the end of February 2018.
