New and advanced technologies available to the plastics industry will be the topic of discussion when Beaumont Technologies, Inc., Regional Account Manager Kevin Rottinghaus shares his insightful keynote presentation with members of the Society of Plastics Engineers’ (SPE) Milwaukee Chapter next month.

During the SPE chapter’s monthly meeting, Rottinghaus will speak on the topic of “New Technologies Essential to Engineering Plastic Parts and Injection Molds,” which will be held on Sept. 18, at the Plankinton Building at the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee. The presentation will include key information regarding state-of-the-art mold filling simulation techniques; “Flow Grouping” methodologies; melt conditioning technologies, such as Rheological Control Systems (RCSTM) and Beaumont’s patented MeltFlipper® Technology; runner design misconceptions; and Veri-floTM II material verification services.

Rottinghaus will also share with attendees Beaumont’s new technology — the Therma-floTM Moldometer, a revolutionary method for characterizing the “injection moldability” of a plastic material during the molding process. This process measures the flow characteristics of a plastic material and offers data to better predict how a part’s wall thickness or material selection will impact the molding of a part.
As part of the presentation, Rottinghaus will explain the benefits of these technologies and how implementing them in a molding operation will help plastics professionals engineer their parts and molds properly the first time, every time.

The event will be held on Sept. 18, in the dining room on the 7th floor of the Plankinton Building at UW-Milwaukee, 161 W. Wisconsin Ave., Milwaukee, WI 53203. Registration/networking for this event begins at 4:30 p.m. Attendees are invited for hors d’ oeuvres and drinks (cash bar) at 5:30 p.m., with dinner beginning at 6:15. Members, non-members and students are welcome to attend. For more information, visit the Milwaukee SPE Chapter’s events page. Directions to the Plankinton Building are available here.
