First Supplier Night was a hit for West Michigan AMBA.

The West Michigan Chapter of the American Mold Builders Association (AMBA) held its first Supplier Night fundraising event on June 29 and according to Chapter President Andrew Baker of Byrne Tool and Die, Vice President Jon Hamming of Paragon Die and Engineering, Treasurer Cindy Baas of CS Tool Engineering, and Secretary Tyler VanRee of Legacy Precision Molds, it was a great success.

The event, which was modeled after the Chicago AMBA’s Supplier Night fundraiser, raised more than $10,300 and included supplier exhibits and networking, dinner, door prizes and a 50/50 raffle, VanRee says. “We had approximately 100 people attend the event. There were 55 attendees from chapter member companies, five non-member attendees, 39 people from supplier companies (21 suppliers in total were represented),” he says.

The event was held at the Wave Room at Celebration Cinemas North in Grand Rapids, Michigan. The AMBA’s National President, Troy Nix, was the keynote speaker.

VanRee said the West Michigan board will be meeting later this month to discuss how the funds raised will be used to benefit the chapter’s programs. He added they are so pleased with the results of their first event that plans will be underway in short order for next year.
