I’ve blogged in the past about the importance of mold maintenance. It’s truly a strategic way to keep molds running at their best because good mold maintenance is preventative and, ideally, systemized. Then there’s mold repair, a more reactive process to be sure, but still important because mold downtime means no product is being manufactured, and that's not a good thing. Mold surface treatment is closely related to mold maintenance and repair and can be a great indicator of mold wear in some cases. But even if you don’t use surface treatments in that way, you do use it to protect your molds and probably also to facilitate better release of molded parts.
