AMBA Offers Upcoming Benefits for Members

The American Mold Builders Association (AMBA) announces several upcoming events, learning opportunities and benefits for its members. AMBA’s Wage and Salary report provides value data for strategic 2020 planning, and the survey is the largest compensation study exclusive to the mold building industry. Members’ participation will help complete the final report! Participants gain free access to the final report, which features compensation data for over 50 positions represented in the mold building industry.

Harry Moser, Reshoring Initiative Receive “MADE IN AMERICA 2019” Reshoring Award

Harry Moser and the Reshoring Initiative team received the MADE IN AMERICA 2019 Reshoring Award during the four-day MADE IN AMERICA 2019 event recently held at the Indiana Convention Center in Indianapolis. The event’s mission is to raise awareness for the economic, environmental and community impact of American-made manufacturers and brands. “I am honored to receive the award and I am delighted to participate in this inaugural event. MADE IN AMERICA 2019 was a great success, especially for a first of its kind event. I want to thank Don Buckner and his MadeinAmerica team and congratulate them on the event’s success.” said Moser, founder and president of the Reshoring Initiative. Harry Moser established the Reshoring Initiative in 2010 to bring manufacturing jobs back to the U.S.

AMBA Chicago Announces 2019 Mold Your Career Award Winner

The Mold Your Career Award was established in 2010 by the Education Committee of the American Mold Builders Association (AMBA) Chicago Chapter to recognize outstanding apprentices of the Chicago Chapter members. Candidates are nominated by their employer, must be with the company for at least one year, and exhibit enthusiasm, hard work, ability and desire to learn the skills of a mold builder, mold designer, CNC machinist or die. This year, the award was funded by the AMBA National Chapter Scholarship Award that was awarded to the Chicago Chapter. Three outstanding apprentices were nominated for the 2019 Mold Your Career Award: Joseph Adolfson, A-1 Tool Corp; Rogelio Estrada, A-1 Tool Corp.; and Tyler Willis, Craftsman Tool and Mold Corporation.

Tsugami/Rem Sales Supports Wounded Warrior Project

Tsugami/Rem Sales, the exclusive North American importer of Precision Tsugami machine tools, announced that it is committed to support the nation’s wounded warriors through Wounded Warrior Project (WWP) and the nonprofit’s free programs and services. Many wounded veterans face significant challenges when they return to civilian life, and through the generous support of donors and corporate partners, WWP is able to provide support during their recovery, wherever they are in that process.

AMBA Files Formal Comments for Tariff Reinstatement

On November 29, the American Mold Builders Association (AMBA) filed formal comments with the Office of the U.S. Trade Representative (USTR) requesting it not extend the exclusion granted to importers from paying a 25% tariff on plastic injection molds from China for another year. Importers and manufacturers had until November 30, 2019, to register their support or opposition for extending the tariff suspension or reinstating the 25% tariff on Chinese imports. The comments were requested ahead of the scheduled December 28, 2019, deadline, when the USTR is scheduled to reinstate the tariffs.
