MMT Chats: 30 Under 30 Honoree, Wire EDM Operator Took an Opportunity and Ran With It
This episode is brought to you by ISCAR with New Ideas for Machining Intelligently.
MoldMaking Technology’s 30 Under 30 Honors Program shows off the next-generation of talent making an impact across the mold manufacturing marketplace. Their stories are impressive and their energy is incredible! Working on this program has only increased my passion for this community!
Here are just a few tidbits from this 30 Under 30 honoree to whet your appetite for our full conversation:
- Family ties got him the job, but he has gone above and beyond quickly to prove he’s got what it takes
- Runs the EDM Department.
- Worked hard his whole life, but his big break was a job as a carbon cutter in 2016.
- His number one challenge is time management because of the number of machines and software he uses every day.
- Has a deep sense of how long machines are going to take.
- He believes that technology has made it a lot easier in today's trade.
- Loves all the machines, but the wire EDM is his favorite, by far—“the way it holds tolerances and cuts so precisely is amazing.”
- The most interesting part of his job is graphite milling because when most people think of EDM they think of the finished product. They don't think about what it takes that gets to that point.
- Mentoring is not just about people teaching, guiding, or showing a way to do something, it’s showing the right way.
- Five-year goal: running the CNCs too.
- And so much more …
