Smith Enterprises (Wood Dale, IL) offers its diamond ground finish, which eliminates 90 percent of polishing costs. Using a proprietary grinding process with diamond grinding wheels, surface finishes of SPI 3-4 are achieved with absolutely no polishing. The results are thru-hardened, double-drawn M-2 with 59-61Rc and .550 dia.- 6.00 long. Ideal applications for this finish are epoxy pins, orifice pins and medical cores.
