Amerimold 2017: Moldmakers Make a Splash as Exhibitors

MMT's 2016 Leadtime Leader award winner, Krieger Craftsmen of Grand Rapids, Michigan, promoted its specialty of building molds for lighting, including head lamps and tail lamps for cars. Krieger also builds molds for appliances, consumer products and some medical applications.

J Flex, a new division of Krieger Craftsmen, made its debut at Amerimold. The company is an electroform manufacturer for the automotive lighting industry, which is a specialty of KCI.

A-1 Tool Corp. in Melrose Park, Illinois, exhibited and featured its specialty in building large injection mold tooling, as well as stack molds, toggle molds, modular molds and more for a wide range of industries.

This year's Leadtime Leader company, Graphic Tool Corp., made a showing, emphasizing its expertise in multi-cavity packaging molds for pharmaceutical, cosmetics and other industries. Read more about this company in MMT's June issue.

First-time exhibitor B A Die Mold Inc. of Aurora, Illinois, featured its patented PERC System for unscrewing applications. PERC stands for Programmable Electric Unscrewing Core.

Clinton, Massachusetts-based NyproMold announced the launch of its new company, 3D ProScan, which provides customers with industrial computed tomography (CT) scanning, a non-destructive technology that uses irradiation (usually X-rays) to produce 3D representations of a scanned object.

In addition to showcasing its conformal cooling and other molding technologies, Baker Aerospace Tooling & Machining featured its involvement as a co-located sponsor of the SA Engineering Injection Molding Technology Collaboration Center, in Livonia, Michigan.

Small is big business for Mold Craft, which exhibited its capability to design and build high-volume, multi-cavity, multi-mold projects for small, intricate plastic parts.

In addition to its ability to produce additive manufacturing prototypes and production, BasTech uses AM for production of plastic and metal parts, tooling (including conformal cooling) and low volume injection molding, adding value to its traditional mold manufacturing services.

First-time Amerimold exhibitor Model Die and Mold, Grand Rapids, Michigan, specializes in manufacturing compression molds, plastic injection molds, carbon fiber molds and die cast dies.

Superior Tooling out of North Carolina displayed its ability to build a variety of molds, including injection, blow, compression and also die cast dies.

Westminster Tool out of Connecticut showcased its use of advanced technologies to bridge the gap between concept and production, focusing not just on tooling, but putting a laser emphasis on pre- and post-manufacturing services as mold flow and CAE analysis and much more. The company was also MMT's 2014 Leadtime Leader Award winner.
