Mold maintenance and repair remains a hot topic because the end result of a poorly maintained mold is a lot of wasted time and money. Over the years MMT has covered various strategies and technologies for this essential step in the mold manufacturing process. We even published a few series dedicated to this area. One such series is "In the Trenches", which we recently organized into one place for your reading pleasure.

Mold maintenance and repair remains a hot topic because the end result of a poorly maintained mold is a lot of wasted time and money. Over the years MMT has covered various strategies and technologies for this essential step in the mold manufacturing process. We even published a few series dedicated to this area. One such series is "In the Trenches," which we recently organized into one place for your reading pleasure.

We developed this series to not only provide some camaraderie and encouragement—so you know that you are not alone in the trenches—but also to share some personal struggles, lessons learn and tricks of the trade.  Some topics include cleaning, retrofitting, welding, documentation, methodology, troubleshooting and training.

The stories and strategies are brought to you by James Bourne, a toolroom supervisor at a company specializing in electroplated trim for the automotive industry and the motorcycle and commercial truck industries. Jim has been involved in die-cast and injection mold building and repair for more than 25 years—from building new tooling in 100+ man shops with state-of-the-art equipment to repairing production molds in a three-man toolroom with only basic equipment.

You can check out his complete In the Trenches series here.
