Taking in the View

Now I know I'm supposed to share with you technology and business strategies that I learn about from covering your industry, but you cannot blame me for saying that the main thing I learned from my trip west earlier this month was that Rancho Cucamonga, CA, has INCREDIBLE mountain views! This I experienced with my buddy Tim (Bartz), as we pulled up for our tour of Prestige Mold. To my surprise what I saw on the inside of Prestige Mold was almost as beautiful.

 

From being a woman-owned company to having a classy, streamlined interior design throughout the entire facility; from a creative, dedicated staff of 75 to an in-house IT person; from custom-developed internal software to a customer portal for spares; from extensive, disciplined shop automation to innovative CNC grinding applications; from premier medical moldmaking to an ambitious state-of-the-article molding facility on its way to completion (called Pres-Tek Plastics), this mold manufacturer not only showcased its best, but opened its doors to other moldmakers so they could see and then share their feedback. A pure give-and-take discussion among peers.

This tour, organization by the American Mold Builder's Association, is one of several they do throughout the year--a great benefit to belonging to this industry association.
