DOOSAN CORP. ACQUIRES CONTROLLING INTEREST IN DAEWOO MACHINE TOOLS West Caldwell, NJ – The Doosan Group has recently acquired the controlling interest of Daewoo Heavy Industries, which includes Daewoo’s machine tool, construction, and forklift divisions. The three former Daewoo divisions now comprise a new business entity called Doosan Infracore. The machine tool division will be known as Daewoo Machine Tool Division of Doosan Infracore. According to Steve Lesnewich, the Machine Tool Division’s vice president of sales & marketing: “From an operational perspective, this amounts to little more than a company name change. We will continue to produce our turning and machining centers at the same factory under the Daewoo name, and also continue to distribute through the forty-two distributor offices that have represented us in the United States and Canada, and through the seven Daewoo distributors in Central and South America. Our R&D groups will continue to develop advanced designs to optimize machining speed, power and performance.”
