The New Puma GT2100 Series
The all-new compact Puma GT2100 series are Doosan’s 8” and 10” turning centers, incorporating the key advantages of the popular Puma 240 in a more compact and cost competitive package, with improved performance, accuracy and reliability. Swing over bed, 23.6”. Swing over saddle, 15.4”. Maximum turning diameter, 15.4”, while the maximum bar working diameter is 3.2” (Puma GT2100(M)B). Maximum turning length is 22.1”.

DOOSAN CORP. ACQUIRES CONTROLLING INTEREST IN DAEWOO MACHINE TOOLS West Caldwell, NJ – The Doosan Group has recently acquired the controlling interest of Daewoo Heavy Industries, which includes Daewoo’s machine tool, construction, and forklift divisions. The three former Daewoo divisions now comprise a new business entity called Doosan Infracore. The machine tool division will be known as Daewoo Machine Tool Division of Doosan Infracore. According to Steve Lesnewich, the Machine Tool Division’s vice president of sales & marketing: “From an operational perspective, this amounts to little more than a company name change. We will continue to produce our turning and machining centers at the same factory under the Daewoo name, and also continue to distribute through the forty-two distributor offices that have represented us in the United States and Canada, and through the seven Daewoo distributors in Central and South America. Our R&D groups will continue to develop advanced designs to optimize machining speed, power and performance.”
Doosan’s Lynx 220LSY high-speed multitasking turning centers feature a Y axis with milling and drilling capabilities, eliminating the need for secondary machining operations that might otherwise be performed on, say, a milling machine.
At its recent technology fair in South Korea, the machine tool builder revealed innovations that could bring greater balance between milling and turning sales here in the U.S.
