Makino’s (Mason, OH) V-Series vertical machining centers were developed for die/mold operations seeking high accuracy, shorter cycle times and superior surface finishes—particularly true in the high-speed milling of deep ribs. One key to the performance of the V-Series machines in cutting deep ribs is the machine’s rigidity and the low vibration of the high-speed spindle. This is primarily due to the company’s patented core cooled spindle technology. In addition, the spindle’s rigidity and low vibration allows the user to cut deep into a part without the tool breaking, and do so at a higher rate of speed.
