Ewikon will introduce the HPS III-FleX variable hot runner solution, which enables the same hot runner system to be used for several molds. The system was designed as a cost-efficient alternative for the production of small series or prototypes in two-cavity molds that had been using cold runner technology.

To enable variable use of the system, a linear main manifold is combined with two lateral arms of the same length. A special pivot-joint allows the lateral arms to be positioned within a defined angular range at the connecting positions to the main manifold. Depending on the angularity between main manifold and lateral manifolds, nozzle positions and pitch distance are adjustable. This enables the hot runner to be used in several molds with different pitch distances by simply dismantling the system from one mold and assembling it in the other one.

The hot runner system offers flow channel diameters of 6 and 9 mm, and because standard nozzles are used, a range of gating options such as direct tip gating, gating with screw-on gate bushes or valve gating is available. The valve gate version uses a pneumatic valve pin drive that is fixed on the manifold and easy to integrate into the system, as only clearance bores and channels for the drive unit housing and the supply hoses are necessary in the clamping plate.
