Valve-Pin Technology Enables Direct Gating onto Film

In addition to its Direct-Flo Gold hot runner systems, Incoe (Booth 130) will display a sample of an in-mold labeling (IML) part created using its SoftGate valve-pin velocity-control technology. The 3-mm-thick part is produced by injecting plastic melt between two films, one of which is also fitted with circuits, creating an electrical functional film for use with controls. The SoftGate valve-gate technology enables vertical direct gating onto the film without damaging or shifting it. It provides gentle melt flow directly onto the film, coating completely and bonding with it, without damaging it thermally or mechanically. Benefits of gating directly onto the film include improved surface quality, problem-free integration of circuitry, production with nearly no reworking, and no sprue/cold runner waste, the company says. 

Also on display will also be interior car pillars that showcase how SoftGate technology produces highly cosmetic finishes, eliminating visible weld/flow lines.
