Mold Shop Tools’ (Traverse City, MI) Ultramight UC550 polishing system (manufactured by URAWA in Japan) allows users to choose between true ultrasonic and conventional polishing capabilities. Features include an automatic feedback system that allows frequency adjustment depending on the size of the tool used in the ultrasonic handpiece. The system comes complete with the electronic power module, an ultrasonic handpiece, various standard ultrasonic polishing tools and ceramic stones. The electronic module also has the capability to power various optional d/c motor-driven rotary and reciprocating hand tools. Several rotary handpieces are available as a “one-piece” construction (motor and spindle head together) while others permit the exchange of various “rotating” and/or “side to side swing” spindle heads. Motor rotation (RPM) is infinitely adjustable from 1500 to 35,000 rpm depending on the type of handpiece that is selected. Reciprocating DieProfilers are also available. The RE35 offers a speed range of 420 to 4200 strokes/minute and the RE55 reciprocates at speeds ranging from 700 to 7000 strokes/minute. Stroke length is adjustable from “zero to 3/32 inch” and “zero to ¼ inch” respectively. Accessories include variable foot speed controllers, ultrasonic off and on adjustment and various extension cords.
