Zeiss Industrial Metrology featured at NPE2015 its MetroTom 800 computer tomograph, which was specifically developed for 3D measurements and structural inspections of complex parts made of plastic, composite materials and ceramic. With the help of metrotomography—the combination of metrology and tomography—this measuring system enables both dimensional measurement of the geometry and inspection of the interior structure of parts ranging to 150 mm, the company says.

Zeiss also showcased its O-Inspect 322, based on the original O-Inspect 442 measuring machine, which combines contact scanning and optical measurement. Both machines use the same sensors and function, but offer different measuring ranges.

In addition, it highlighted the NEX series of surface and roundness instruments that enable both types of measurements to be completed with one system. SurfCom NEX offers a single hybrid detector to measure surface texture and contour at the same time, while RondCom NEX offers high spindle accuracy and allows optional surface roughness measurements in the horizontal, vertical and radial axes.
